Bali Yogshala provides students the opportunity to study and practice yoga beyond the physical postures. This enables students to step away from the routine of daily life and enjoy the opportunity of regular practice of and learning about yoga in a deep and meaningful way. Some students come with the intention of completing a teaching degree, while others aim to add depth to their yoga practice.
At Bali Yogshala, learning is holistic and critically combined with understanding and applies to all aspects of the yoga practice, including the various elements of yoga (asana, pranayama, meditation), yoga philosophy, yoga anatomy, and alignment as well as the different techniques of teaching yoga.
Our teachers ensure students gain maximum understanding through regular practice and feedback. Students gain the opportunity to practice at their individual level and not feel rushed in comparison to other students.
At Bali Yogshala, yoga does not end when a class finishes. The experience encourages students to bring greater awareness into simple daily habits, from the way they breathe and move to the way they rest, eat, and respond to everyday situations. This makes the time spent here as much about understanding yoga as it is about practising it.
Different stages of yoga call for different kinds of learning. Bali Yogshala offers teacher training courses and shorter retreats so that you can choose a programme suited to your experience, available time, and purpose.
Our shorter retreats offer another way to experience yoga in Bali:
Our programs go beyond physical postures. With pranayama, meditation, philosophy and other traditional practices, students learn the bigger dimensional aspects of yoga and how each part of yoga can be supportive of the others.
Being in Bali gives this learning a setting of its own. Time outside class can be spent experiencing the island's landscape and culture, while the quieter pace of training gives you room to focus on your practice without the interruptions of your normal routine.
At Bali Yogshala, the aim is simple: to give you the space, teaching, and structure needed to learn yoga with greater attention and take that understanding forward in a way that is meaningful to you.
Bali has more than just beaches. It has nature, including rice fields and waterfall temples. It has village life that is still traditional. Balinese culture is closely aligned with nature and practice. It’s also the perfect place for almost any yoga practice with nature’s beauty and quiet space to focus or even be distracted from the ordered world back home.
A strong sense of balance also runs through Balinese culture. Tri Hita Karana, a traditional philosophy based on harmony between people, nature, and the spiritual world, shares many values with the broader way of living that yoga encourages.
Studying yoga in Bali gives you time to slow down and settle into a different daily rhythm. With fewer everyday distractions, there is more room for regular practice, study, reflection, and rest. The island enhances the natural environment for yoga practice and creates a perfect balance for your yoga retreat.
Our teachers help students deepen their understanding of the yoga practice through lessons that are clear and founded on their years of experience. Our teachers use themselves as examples by practicing what they preach through a number of demonstrations and offer sessions to further assist students in their practice.
The Bali Yogashala brings students together from around the globe. Cross cultural exchange helps promote practices and fosters friendships in the classroom. The time you spend on the school premises can be as enriching as the learning itself.
Books will only teach you so much and will help you only if you understand how to put what you read into practice. Learning at Bali Yogshala gives you the chance to do exactly that. Students learn the practice and are guided through the process to understand what they practice.
Training in Bali gives students the chance to study yoga in surroundings that encourage a slower and more attentive way of living. Beyond classes, the island's nature and cultural environment add another dimension to the overall learning experience.
We are a yoga alliance registered yoga school. The well-maintained schedule and curriculum are completely based on the structure set by Yoga Alliance. It simply means that completing the course means getting the chance to become a registered yoga teacher.
The relationship between a student and teacher plays an important role in yoga education. At Bali Yogshala, our teachers bring experience in different yogic disciplines, giving students the opportunity to learn through practical instruction, observation, discussion, and regular practice.
